FAQ

Whether you are given homework depends on your personal needs and choice. Homework can serve as a good progress indicator for both the teacher and student. In practice though, any homework that is agreed upon will be of a nature that is both simple and quick to complete.

If you already use a German text and work book I am happy to use that. However, generally I recommend different material depending on each students personal language level. When teaching German to children, I provide all necessary material and worksheets specific to a child's needs, age, and skill level.

I do not offer discounts, because I believe my prices to be both fair and reasonable for the professional teaching service I offer. However, I do offer a referral fee in the form of one free private lesson for recommendations that result in three of more paid bookings.

Do you offer discounts or referral fees?

Yes. All private lessons take place at the client's home. Alternatively I can also travel to your place of work or wherever else it is convenient and quiet in order to focus on learning. Lessons usually last a full 60 or 90 minutes for teenagers and adults, and 2 x 25 minutes for children. Group lessons, such as conversation classes, usually last a full 90 minutes and can also take place in other quiet and suitable locations of the groups choice.

What learning materials are required?
What's the minimum number of German lessons?

It all depends on your personal aims, motivation, and learning ability. Generally, if you need to pass German language tests or entrance exams intensive private lessons will give you a better chance of success. If you're learning German for fun, one to two private lessons per week are usually enough for good progress.

Will I be given homework?

I started teaching children, teenagers, and also adults private German and English lessons while studying for my Bachelor of Arts with Honours degree in 'German Language and Literature' from "King’s College London". I then continued teaching German and English during my Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) studies and training at "UCL's Institute of Education" in 1999. Besides teaching both German and English, I also teach photography and used to own a popular photography school when I still worked and lived in Germany and Switzerland.
